DR.HOOK

Dr.Hooks 'Bankrupt' was released in 1975 on Capitol records after they had been dismissed by previous label CBS. The title is honest and the band were in deed bankrupt at the time of making the album. The cover art is a photo of the band (stuffing there pockets and bags with money) placed strategically over an income statement. To put this album in context it was released the same year as Bruce Springsteens Career defining 3rd album 'born to run' , David Bowie's spectacular 'young americans', Pink Floyd's epic 'Wish you were here', 'High Voltage' by AC/DC(ACCADACCA!) And Kraftwerks electric 'Radioactivity'. To compare this album to those albums is like comparing a moldy half opened can of spam to a full roast dinner. The album opens with the limp, maimed, lame, weak 'levitate' which has an introduction that will make you claw at your ear drums wishing to never hear another sound as heinous. The only highlights on this album are 1) the song title 'I got stoned and I missed it' and 2) the moment the c.d stops. Cooky and Lila is the worst song ever, wait no everybody loves me is, the bit where he barks at the beginning. In closing it was no wonder this band was bankrupt they made awful music.

if you live in america you can catch DR HOOK at some shows soon.
